Sony Block Solutions Labs (Sony BSL), a Sony Group company established in Singapore in 2023, announced the launch of Soneium Conquest, a four-week campaign aimed to introduce the public to its Soneium blockchain.

According to the company announcement shared with Cryptonews, the campaign will feature a variety of learning modules, engaging challenges, and interactive experiences.

A Deep Dive Into the Soneium Ecosystem

Soneium Conquest invites creators, developers, and blockchain enthusiasts to explore the Soneium ecosystem and discover the potential of Web3.

The campaign, hosted on the Galxe platform, will focus on four key areas: creativity, connection, joy, and immersion.

During the first week, participants will explore how Soneium empowers creators to bring their visions to life through blockchain-based experiences.

The second week will focus on how Soneium works with its community and boosts communication and collaborations within the digital realm.

Weeks three and four will delve into the world of blockchain gaming, showcasing how Soneium leverages entertainment and fosters user engagement.

Soneium Aims to Empower Creativity and Openness

Soneium, an Ethereum Layer-2 developed by Sony BSL, is a platform designed to empower creativity and foster a more open and inclusive internet.

On Jan. 14, Sony launched the mainnet for Soneium to streamline blockchain interactions and provide a more user-friendly Web3 experience.

Built on the OP Stack from the Optimism Foundation, the platform incorporates Sony’s non-fungible token (NFT)-based Fan Marketing Platform and Soneium Spark, which support creators, developers, and fans.

Soneium also leverages partnerships with Sony Pictures, Sony Music, and Sony Music Publishing. These collaborations utilize NFTs to grant fans access to exclusive content and foster deeper engagement with their favorite artists and entertainment.

Mixed Reactions and Clarification on Blacklisting

The mainnet launch has received a mixed response from the community. While some users praised the platform’s potential, others expressed concerns regarding the “blacklisting” of certain contract addresses.

A user wrote on X on Jan. 14 that Soneium may have inadvertently harmed users by freezing contracts, potentially resulting in losses of up to $100,000 in Ether (ETH). These claims stem from Soneium’s policy of restricting addresses suspected of intellectual property (IP) infringement, which is outlined in their official documentation.

In response to recent concerns raised by users, Soneium clarified that its recent contract restrictions affected only two specific contracts due to IP violations. The company confirmed that users and developers have the right to appeal these decisions and that proactive communication is ongoing.

According to Soneium, no funds were frozen, and the blacklist only restricted public RPC interaction with the flagged contracts.
