The Hedera-based Origin launchpad has emerged from stealth to provide a democratized investment vehicle through curated investment opportunities.

According to the press release, the novel launchpad enables investors to get in on the ground floor, access promising projects via a streamlined investing process, and invest alongside major global funds.

These opportunities foster a more inclusive and equitable investment ecosystem, the team argues. It utilizes decentralized technology to modernize the investment process.

Furthermore, Origin “does all the heavy lifting,” including comprehensive research and due diligence, to help investors diversify their crypto portfolios.

Meanwhile, Origin is built on the proof-of-stake blockchain built on Hedera and is funded by the HBAR Foundation grant.

Hedera says it has processed over 70 billion mainnet transactions and has included several big names to its governing council, including Google, Dell, IBM, LG, and others.

“Origin is redefining industry standards and empowering investors from all backgrounds,” commented Alexander Russman, Vice President at the HBAR Foundation and Head of the Consumer Engagement Fund at Hedera Network.

Hedera supports Origin’s “vision to democratize investments while boosting transparency and inclusivity for investors in our ecosystem,” Russman added.

Leveling the Playing Field Between VCs and Retail Investors

The Origin team noted that venture capitalists invested $11.5 billion in crypto startups in 2024. At the same time, crypto deal valuations increased faster than the general industry in the second and third quarters.

With further adoption and enhanced regulation, crypto is bound to see more VC interest in 2025, they argue. However, they also typically get exclusive access to early-stage investment opportunities in projects with high-growth potential. On top of that, their resources allow them to conduct extensive market research.

Overall, VCs have an advantage over retail investors, Origin said. Therefore, everyday users typically can’t invest in early-stage projects at the same level as large VC firms.

Origin says that it wants to change this imbalance. It aims to “level the playing field between VCs and retail investors by providing access to high-quality crypto projects to everyday users.”

While investment opportunities have been reserved for venture funds and whales, “the future of venture capital is decentralized and accessible to all,” the website says.

Meanwhile, before listing any projects, Origin will put them through a vetting process. The team plans to add one to two projects a month.

Interested users can sign up and connect their wallets. They will get early access upon the platform launch.

Also, Origin will launch educational questing modules and staking capabilities “in the coming months.” This move will enable users to earn points.

According to Eric Faust, Chief of Business Development at Origin, “the future of crypto isn’t just about speculation – it’s about transformation.”

By providing early access to enterprise-grade projects, Origin presents “a shift toward a more open, efficient, and accessible digital economy for the everyday person,” Faust says.
